Job Requirements
- Knowledge acquired through 1 to 3 years of related work experience
- Valid driver’s license with excellent driving history
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required
- Ability to obtain Hazmat Certification where necessary
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English related to FMCSA regulations
- Ability to obtain FMCSA physical certification within 60 days of hire
- Capability to operate tractor-trailers safely in compliance with federal and company regulations
- Physical ability to load and unload freight
- Ability to use hand-held devices for communication and logging
- Willingness to work early morning and overnight shifts
Job Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL for interstate driving
- Ability to obtain and maintain FMCSA physical certification
- Two years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience preferred
- Sales experience preferred
- Ability to read and communicate in English
- Capability to use a pallet jack
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Willingness to work varying shifts including early morning and overnight
- Experience with manual and automatic transmissions
Job Duties
- Perform assigned pre-shift activities to ensure productive shift
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of truck and trailers
- Safely and legally operate tractor-trailer following all applicable laws and company policies
- Trip plan using maps, GPS, and written or verbal information to ensure efficient and on-time deliveries
- Load and unload freight at customer locations using electric pallet jacks and other means
- Perform needed post-shift activities including coupling and uncoupling trucks and securing equipment
- Maintain paperwork and documentation associated with freight pick-up and delivery
