Job Requirements
- Must be able to communicate and understand simple directions in English
- must be able to read MSDS and chemical labels
- one to two years experience cleaning in a healthcare environment preferred but not required
- ability to follow established safety and infection control guidelines
- capable of performing physically demanding cleaning tasks
- ability to operate cleaning machinery and use proper cleaning products
- willing to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays if required
- ability to use computer and pager for Bed Tracking
- must maintain proper hygiene and wear gloves during cleaning tasks
- report hazardous conditions to supervisor
- follow department safety policies
- must be reliable and punctual
Job Qualifications
- Must be able to communicate and understand simple directions in English
- knowledge of hospital safety protocols including RACE, PASS, chemical and trash safety, MSDS, HIPAA, and infection control procedures
- proficiency in operating computer Bed Tracking System and pager
- experience in maintaining cleanliness in a healthcare environment preferred
- ability to work with attention to detail and follow safety guidelines
- effective communication skills with all levels of the organization
- basic knowledge of chemical labels and handling
- ability to perform physically demanding tasks including moving furniture and use of ladders
Job Duties
- Sweeps, mops, vacuums, collects trash, polishes floors using buffing/burnishing machines, performs high dusting, spot washes and doors as needed
- cleans and makes beds, spot wall washing
- washes toilets, cleans furniture, empties trash receptacles
- cleans Venetian blinds and shades, radiators, railings, stairways, lights, vents, doors
- removes and hangs cubicle and shower curtains
- uses ladder for door frames and cleans picture frames
- washes porters closets, equipment, and replenishes cleaning supplies
- uses telephone and pager for Bed Tracking
- performs other duties as assigned
- maintains established safety and infection control guidelines
- proficient in operation of the computer Bed Tracking System and pager
- performs 7-Cleaning Steps for each patient room daily and provides discharge cleaning as required
- vacuums all carpeted areas thoroughly and removes spots
- polishes floors ensuring a shine after buffing
- washes beds from discharges and places clean linen neatly
- consistently maintains adequate supplies
- performs complete and thorough cleaning as per work assignment
- empties trash receptacles and disposes of trash properly
- sweeps and mops hard floor surfaces with appropriate solutions
- moves items as necessary to make floors lint/dirt free
