Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 or older
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • six months to one year of bakery or related experience
  • able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • able to perform physical activities including stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
  • vision requirements with or without correction
  • ability to solve problems and interpret instructions
  • able to work in fast-paced environment with exposure to flour, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, equipment hazards, and cleaning chemicals

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • six months to one year of related bakery experience
  • ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
  • arithmetic skills including fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • good communication skills
  • ability to guide and provide direction
  • knowledge of sanitation procedures and safety guidelines
  • ability to operate bakery equipment

Job Duties

  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service
  • smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner
  • makes an effort to learn customers' names and address them by name
  • assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach products, loading/unloading heavy items, passing along customer suggestions
  • answers the telephone promptly, taking product orders
  • checks orders and sets production schedule
  • prepares makeup, bakes, and fries bakery products
  • reviews product freshness and pulls stale items
  • invoices and stores products
  • anticipates product needs for current and future days
  • inspects quality and quantity of incoming products
  • monitors bakery equipment and reports maintenance issues
  • verifies correct signage on ad items
  • identifies safety issues
  • operates as lead with bakery clerks
  • prioritizes orders per customer and manager requests
  • proofs necessary items
  • pulls products from freezer or cooler
  • practices proper sanitation and maintains clean work area
  • adheres to hygiene and dress guidelines
  • reports to work on time
  • orders supplies and merchandise except cake decorating items
  • re-merchandises shelves and removes outdated products
  • manages department schedule and attendance in bakery manager's absence
  • assists other store areas as needed
  • performs other job-related duties and special projects as required
