Job Requirements
- Minimum of 5 to 6 years progressive hotel management experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Availability to work long hours when required
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Compliance with Highgate Hotel policies and standards
- Physical ability to perform light work including lifting up to 20 pounds
- Willingness to participate in M.O.D. coverage and hotel trainings
- Maintaining high standards of personal appearance and grooming
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare forecasts
- Experience with staff interviewing and performance appraisal processes
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- At least 5 to 6 years of progressive hotel management experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
- Effective listening and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Friendly and service-oriented demeanor
- Ability to attend all required meetings and trainings
- Capable of working long hours as needed
- High standards of personal appearance and grooming
- Familiarity with hotel budgeting and financial forecasting
- Experience in staff development and performance management
- Knowledge of hospitality industry standards and best practices
Job Duties
- Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts including calling on top accounts and meeting clients
- Tour operating departments daily and make necessary adjustments with department heads
- Conduct weekly staff meetings and training sessions using Highgate standards
- Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs timely
- Hold monthly financial reviews with department managers and supervisors
- Ensure department heads maintain budget productivity and accounting procedures
- Develop managers through competency training and corporate sponsored programs
- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as scheduled
- Maintain direct contact with and monitor management trainees
- Adhere to all Highgate Hotel policies and procedures and train new managers
- Oversee and assist in budget process as required
- Ensure training in service standards using Highgate training methods
- Create a positive team environment focused on guest satisfaction
- Inspect rooms regularly with Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer
- Ensure complete processing of invoices daily using A/P process
- Ensure timely submission of financial documents per accounting calendar
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the physical property through inspections
- Ensure employees maintain attentive, friendly, courteous, efficient interaction with guests and staff
- Forecast monthly financial position estimating revenues and expenses
- Prepare and conduct management interviews and ensure compliance with hiring procedures
- Interview all final management candidates prior to offers
- Perform Executive Committee performance appraisals and ensure compliance
- Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline management per SOPs
- Perform other duties as requested by Vice President or Regional Director
- Ensure fair and equitable treatment of all employees
- Meet clients on property to assist in sales efforts
- Be present in public areas during peak times to assist guests
- Ensure security and monthly audits of hotel safe
- Conduct monthly credit meetings and manage credit and collection policies
