Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- College degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Previous hotel direct selling experience
- Ability to perform major life activities including standing, lifting up to 30 pounds, bending, reading, concentrating, thinking, and communicating
- Ability to push or pull 60 pounds unassisted
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Ability to work independently and meet sales goals
- Strong decision-making skills
- Must pass appropriate security clearances
- Ability to spend at least three days per week outside the office
- Willingness to undertake periodic overnight travel
- Ability to work weekends if necessary
- Honest and trustworthy character traits essential
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- College degree (BS/BA) preferred or equivalent work experience
- Previous direct selling experience in hotel sales
- Demonstrated success in market development
- Experience selling major hotel brands including Marriott, Hilton, Best Western, or IHG
- Knowledge of Full Service, Focus Service, and Extended Stay lodging markets
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with customer relationship management software such as Delphi or STS
- Strong financial analysis skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and organize work efficiently
- Ability to communicate in English, additional languages beneficial
- Experience in hotel operations preferred
- Previous dual Director of Sales experience preferred
Job Duties
- Handle inquiry calls, proposals, negotiations, and contracts for three or more hotels
- Book business to achieve or exceed monthly room and revenue budgets
- Use a relationship-building and proactive selling approach with weekly prospecting and outside call goals
- Coordinate with General Managers and corporate sales personnel to secure business
- Use computerized sales management systems to add sales activities, generate reports, and manage accounts
- Maintain active membership in external organizations like convention bureaus and chambers of commerce
- Generate sales contracts and BEOs within guidelines and develop business cases for non-standard group business
- Utilize business tools and lead sources to maximize revenue production
- Target decision makers at companies to gain new or maintain existing business
- Attend sales training and continuing education to improve job-specific skills
- Motivate and manage sales department personnel according to standards
- Monitor economic and market segment news to inform sales strategies and forecasting
- Follow up regularly with clients to maintain business relationships
- Participate in annual budgeting, revenue generation, and promotional planning
