St. John’s Residence for Boys

St. John's Residence for Boys is a residential foster care agency dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support for adolescent males aged 12 to 21. Established in 1826, the organization has evolved from an orphan asylum into a multifaceted program serving at-risk youth and their families.

Mission and Services

The primary mission of St. John's Residence for Boys is to reunite every child with his family. To achieve this, the organization offers a range of services designed to promote healing, personal development, and family reunification.

These services include:

• Residential Treatment Center: Provides a structured therapeutic environment for up to 43 adolescent males aged 13 to 21. Residents live in family-style apartments on the main campus in the Rockaways. The program includes individual, group, and family counseling, social services, comprehensive medical care, career development, community service opportunities, and recreational activities. School-aged residents attend either the on-site NYC Board of Education school, PS 256Q, or a community school based on educational needs.
• Close to Home Program: Offers non-secure placement services for youth in foster care, aiming to provide a safe and supportive environment that facilitates family reunification.
• Non-Secure Detention Program: Located in Richmond Hill, Queens, serves as a group home for youth awaiting adjudication, ensuring a stable and secure setting during this transitional period.

Affiliation with Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York

In 2015, St. John's Residence for Boys entered into an affiliation agreement with Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York. This partnership allows both organizations to retain their independent identities while collaborating to enhance the efficiency and breadth of services offered to the communities they serve.
