History and Evolution

Founded by Matt and Ivan Perkins in 1958 as Smithies Pancake House in Cincinnati, Ohio, the chain expanded rapidly.

Its menu diversified and it was rebranded to Perkins Cake & Steak in 1969.

Over the years, Perkins underwent several ownership changes, including a merger with Marie Callender's in 2006, forming Perkins & Marie Callender's Inc.

In 2019, the company filed for bankruptcy and was acquired by Huddle House.

Later in 2020, Ascent Hospitality Management purchased Huddle House, making Perkins a subsidiary.
