The New York Athletic Club (NYAC), established in 1868, is a prestigious private social and athletic club renowned for its rich history and exceptional facilities. With approximately 8,600 members, the NYAC offers a diverse range of athletic, social, and recreational amenities across its two primary locations: the City House in Manhattan and Travers Island in Westchester County.

City House – Manhattan

Located at 180 Central Park South, the City House serves as the club's headquarters. This 24-story building, completed in 1929, provides panoramic views of Central Park and houses a variety of athletic facilities, including:

Travers Island, situated on 33 acres beside the Long Island Sound in Westchester County, serves as the club's summer location. Amenities here include:

Athletic Programs and Achievements

The NYAC is celebrated for its competitive athletic programs, with members having won 321 Olympic and 11 Paralympic medals. Notable athletes associated with the club include Ray Ewry, Al Oerter, Bruce Baumgartner, Kayla Harrison, and Tatyana McFadden.

In the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, NYAC athletes secured a total of 36 medals—12 gold, 14 silver, and 10 bronze—demonstrating the club's ongoing commitment to excellence in sports.

Membership and Reciprocal Clubs

Membership at the NYAC is by invitation only, reflecting the club's exclusive nature. Members enjoy reciprocal privileges with over 120 clubs worldwide, including more than 70 domestic and 50 international clubs.
