Kingsbridge Heights Community Center

Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) is a multifaceted nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Bronx residents from cradle to career. Established in 1974 by community activists Janet Athanasidy, Patricia Burns, and Mary McLoughlin, KHCC has grown to serve over 4,500 individuals annually across multiple locations in the Bronx.

Operating under the settlement house model, KHCC offers a comprehensive range of programs designed to foster education, well-being, and community engagement.

Programs and Services

• Early Childhood Programs: Providing nurturing environments for children and their families, these programs focus on educational development and school readiness.
• Youth Programs: Offering safe spaces for youth aged 11 to 21, these initiatives include after-school activities, teen evening programs, and a teen center that promotes socialization, learning, and personal growth.
• Adult & Family Programs: These services aim to break cycles of abuse, neglect, and poverty by providing counseling, support, and resources to families and adults.
• KHCConnect Programs: A case management unit that addresses unmet needs within the community, offering assistance and support to individuals and families.
• Nutrition Programs: Focusing on nutrition education, gardening, and culinary arts, these programs promote healthy lifestyles and provide access to nutritious food.

In addition to these core services, KHCC hosts various community events and festivals, such as the Annual Neighborhood Festival, which celebrates cultural milestones like Pride and Juneteenth.
