Kindred Motorworks is a Bay Area-based company specializing in the restoration and modernization of classic vehicles, blending vintage aesthetics with contemporary performance and reliability. Founded by Rob Howard, the company has developed a streamlined process to transform classic cars into modernized versions, often referred to as restomods.

Product Lineup

Kindred Motorworks offers a range of vehicles that have been meticulously restored and upgraded.

• Kindred Bronco: This model is available in several editions:
  • Heritage Edition: Combines classic style with modern performance, featuring a 460-horsepower V8 engine and an all-new transmission.
  • Trail Edition: Designed for off-road adventures, equipped with enhancements for rugged terrains.
  • EV Edition: An electric version that maintains the Bronco's iconic design while offering zero-emissions driving.
• Kindred VW Bus Tailgate Edition: An electric VW Bus featuring a new interior designed for social gatherings, equipped with a 294-horsepower electric motor and a range of 200 miles.
• Kindred Chevy 3100 Pickup: A modernized version of the classic Chevy 3100 pickup, available with both internal combustion and electric drivetrains.

Manufacturing and Facilities

The company operates out of a 105,000 square-foot facility in Mare Island, Vallejo, California, a former U.S. Navy shipyard redeveloped for industrial and residential use.

This location serves as the hub for Kindred Motorworks' business and manufacturing operations.

Partnerships and Expansion

In February 2025, Kindred Motorworks partnered with Sewell Automotive, a family-owned dealer group with over a century of history, to expand its reach in the Texas market.

Customers can now see, test-drive, and purchase the Kindred Bronco at Sewell's dealership in Dallas.

Customer Experience and Services

To enhance the ownership experience, Kindred Motorworks has collaborated with Hagerty, a renowned insurance provider for vintage and specialty vehicles.

This partnership offers Kindred vehicle owners a one-year membership to the Hagerty Drivers Club, which includes:
