Din Tai Fung North America is the regional division of Din Tai Fung, a globally renowned Taiwanese restaurant chain celebrated for its meticulously crafted soup dumplings, known as xiao long bao. Established in 1972 in Taipei, Taiwan, Din Tai Fung has expanded its culinary footprint worldwide.

North American operations are overseen by the grandsons of the founder, who serve as co-CEOs. The division has experienced significant growth since its inception in 2000, with the first U.S. location opening in Arcadia, California.

As of 2024, Din Tai Fung operates 18 locations across the United States, offering an upscale yet inviting dining experience that emphasizes cultural appreciation and community engagement.

Menu Highlights

The menu features a variety of dishes, focusing on their signature xiao long bao. These soup dumplings are renowned for their delicate, paper-thin skins and precise folding technique, each dumpling containing exactly 18 folds.

The preparation is a labor of love, with chefs undergoing extensive training to perfect the art of crafting these dumplings. In addition, the menu includes wontons, potstickers, noodle dishes, and wok-fried specialties, all prepared with the same commitment to quality and authenticity.

Expansion and Locations

In 2024, Din Tai Fung expanded its presence on the East Coast by opening a 25,000-square-foot restaurant in New York City. This marked its first location in the city and was the largest in the world at that time.
