Sound Engineer Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients to understand recording or performance requirements

  • Install, monitor and adjust audio equipment for recording and sound reinforcement
  • Safely set up, repair, service and replace equipment as needed

  • Maintain and organize audio equipment for optimal functionality
  • Build professional relationships with artists and clients
  • Serve as a point person for all sound-related inquiries within the organization

Sound Engineer Experience Requirements & Skills

  • Proven experience as a Sound Engineer or similar role
  • Technical skills in sound engineering procedures, such as equalization, chorus effect, limitation, automation and echo amplification
  • Excellent experience using sound recording studio equipment, such as Reaper and Presonus Studiolive Series III
  • Familiarity with audio mixing consoles, microphones and equalizers
  • Capable of mixing live audio in real time
  • Sound troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in different environments, such as recording studios, outdoor venues or film sets
  • Time management skills to meet project deadlines and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain professionalism under pressure
  • Ability to collaborate with staff members to produce quality work
  • Great interpersonal, critical thinking and communication skills

Sound Engineer Education & Qualifications
