Courtesy Clerk Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist customers by providing information, helping locate products and answering questions
- Efficiently bag customers’ purchases
- Manage shopping carts, ensuring they are clean and organized in designated areas
- Maintain store cleanliness by sweeping, mopping and cleaning spills
- Assist with price checks and ensure accurate product labeling
- Handle customer returns and exchanges in full compliance with store policies
- Support cashiers during busy periods by helping bag items and maintaining checkout organization
- Assist in loading and unloading merchandise for customers
- Replenish merchandise on shelves to uphold a neat and organized store appearance
- Address customer inquiries, concerns or complaints in a friendly and helpful manner
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols, including proper lifting techniques
- Follow all store policies and procedures for a smooth operation
- Present a professional and friendly image through a neat appearance and courteous demeanor
Courtesy Clerk Experience Requirements & Skills
- Previous experience as a courtesy clerk or in a customer service role is preferred
- Familiarity with retail operations, especially in a [boutique/grocery store] setting, is an advantage
- Experience in cash handling or cashier duties is a plus, as basic knowledge of point-of-sale systems is useful for this role
- Excellent customer service skills and a friendly and approachable outlook
- Strong communication skills to assist customers and collaborate with team members
- Ability to handle physical tasks, including lifting and moving items
- Adaptability to handle various responsibilities, from bagging purchases to assisting with store cleanliness
- Attention to detail, especially when organizing shopping carts and restocking shelves
