Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in custodial or grounds maintenance work preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in custodial or grounds maintenance work preferred
  • Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment
  • Valid driver’s license required for mail and supply runs
  • Willingness to participate in training programs
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Perform custodial duties throughout the park
  • Participate in pest control programs with training
  • Perform ground maintenance work including raking leaves, spreading tanbark or gravel
  • Perform mail and supply runs to the Bronx Zoo regularly and as requested with valid driver’s license and training
  • Offer aid, help, directions, and provide information to the public
  • Assist in the movement of Zoo equipment, supplies and refuse
  • Assist in maintaining areas other than those assigned as conditions may require
  • Move furniture or office equipment, move and set up tables and chairs
  • Enforce the Society visitors' rules and regulations and those of the Department of Parks of the City of New York
  • Perform related tasks and duties as required
