Job Requirements

  • valid texas driver's license
  • ability to work weekends, holidays, and various days and hours during busy seasons and zoo events
  • ability to work after regular work hours
  • high school diploma or ged equivalent preferred
  • related work experience preferred
  • ability to follow safety rules and regulations
  • ability to work in close proximity to dangerous animals
  • ability to lift and move furniture and equipment

Job Duties

  • perform custodial and janitorial duties in city facilities
  • maintain attractive, sanitary, and safe facilities for city staff and public
  • clean floors, walls, and windows using manual and power equipment
  • empty trash receptacles
  • move furniture and equipment
  • assist with set up and take down of special equipment for zoo events
  • clean and disinfect restrooms
  • sanitize toilets, sinks, and fixtures
  • restock restroom supplies
  • follow all safety rules and regulations
  • clean up spills and unsafe conditions in a timely manner
  • report safety hazards, equipment problems, repair needs, security issues, and emergency situations
  • work in close proximity to dangerous animals when required
  • work after regular hours and during zoo sponsored events
  • perform other related duties as assigned
  • support the relationship between the city of waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior
