Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Enrolled in the Child Care Division Central Background Registry
  • Proof of enrollment
  • At least two and a half years experience with youth aged 5-17 in structured group settings
  • At least one year experience supervising adults
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Must maintain valid Oregon driver’s license and DMV driving record meeting YMCA standards
  • Evidence of insurability and reliable transportation
  • Commitment to obtaining YMCA-required training including First Aid/CPR/AED, Child Abuse Prevention, Preventing Discrimination and Harassment within 90 days of hire

Job Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Enrolled in the Child Care Division Central Background Registry with proof
  • At least two and a half years experience working with youth aged 5-17 in structured group settings
  • At least one year experience supervising adults
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Preferred to meet Office of Childcare Program Leader requirements
  • Preferred to have 60 hours experience and 20 clock hours of training in school-age child care core knowledge areas
  • Preferred additional qualifying experience or relevant associate's degree in related fields such as early childhood education, child development, or special education
  • Preferred experience working at a YMCA
  • Preferred experience working with diverse populations
  • Conversational fluency in Spanish is a plus

Job Duties

  • Performs logistical and administrative functions related to program coordination for Family Events, PlayZone, KidZone, and Teen and Youth Space
  • Develops age-appropriate program outlines and schedules facilities and equipment
  • Works with Marketing and Communications to promote activities
  • Oversees safety and implements emergency plans
  • Manages activity registration, room setup, and cleanup
  • Collaborates with community organizations to enhance and develop programs
  • Develops and recruits youth aged 5-17 for new programs
  • Oversees daily operations of youth and teen center including staff and volunteer supervision, ordering supplies, and program evaluation
  • Enhances communication surrounding teen programming internally and externally
  • Maintains knowledge of teen programming trends and culture
  • Coordinates member and community engagement programs such as Family nights, E-sports, NinjaZone, Teen Nights, and Youth Nights
  • Provides direct leadership to program participants promoting inclusion and positive youth development
  • Coordinates and assists with special event planning
  • Collaborates with youth and staff to create safe, inclusive environments
  • Creates and builds community through special events, series, and workshops
  • Develops engaging new activity and enrichment programs for teens and youth
  • Ensures culture of acceptance and fosters personal growth
  • Creates unique teen engagement programming
  • Develops and maintains positive public relations and cooperation with YMCA staff, school administrators, families, and community
  • Promotes YMCA membership, programs, and services
  • Assists with resolving participant behavior issues
  • Trains and mentors volunteers, students, interns, and new staff
  • Communicates program-related matters to program supervisor
  • Plans for program expansion in line with YMCA objectives
  • Attends required orientations, trainings, and staff meetings
  • Purchases supplies, manages expenditures, and maintains records
  • Maintains program schedules and marketing updates
  • Participates in maintenance and safety reporting of youth spaces
  • Safely drives 15-passenger bus
  • Supports workplace diversity and inclusion
  • Commits to mandatory YMCA training
  • Maintains licensing and insurance requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned
