Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to work extended shifts including 12-hour shifts
  • Ability to use visual and auditory awareness
  • Ability to establish trust and positive rapport with children
  • Ability to provide conflict resolution and de-escalation
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize duties and resident needs
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to remain calm and compassionate
  • Ability to use good judgment under stress
  • Proficient with basic computer skills
  • Compliance with ORR vaccination mandate
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, twisting, and reaching
  • Must pass background checks and immunization verifications

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred based on service area
  • One year of employment experience in child welfare or working with children/adolescents
  • Prior full-time work experience preferably with youth or adolescents
  • Ability to work extended and 12-hour shifts as needed
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and documentation software
  • Ability to use conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to establish trust and maintain ethical boundaries with children
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to remain calm and compassionate in stressful situations
  • Associates degree in social services or related field preferred
  • Two years of direct care experience with children and adolescents preferred

Job Duties

  • Conduct intake services for incoming unaccompanied children including completing paperwork, assessments, and orientation
  • Provide basic needs support including meals, hygiene, clothing, bedroom assignments, and supervision of daily routines
  • Perform behavior management, oversee therapeutic activities, and provide crisis intervention
  • Supervise unaccompanied children and enforce behavior limits according to individual treatment plans and ORR standards
  • Provide one-on-one monitoring for medical, mental health, and behavioral needs as directed
  • Clean, organize, and maintain a safe living environment
  • Observe children and provide feedback for behavior plan updates and environment improvements
  • Conduct regular 15-minute headcounts of children under care
  • Document interactions, planned interventions, behavior incidents, and observations in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Assist Unit Manager and serve as point of contact during absence of Shift Supervisor
  • Support children in social skills, anger management, and daily living skills development
  • Plan and implement social and recreational activities
  • Accompany children during outings, appointments, and transport following safety protocols
  • Report safety hazards and risks promptly to management and clinical staff
  • Participate in evacuation procedures as needed
  • Build positive relationships with children, staff, volunteers, and community to achieve program goals
  • Adhere to agency policies, code of ethics, and display cultural sensitivity and professionalism
  • Perform other duties as assigned
