Job Requirements

  • Childcare Development Associates (CDA), Technical College Certificate (TCC) in early childhood education or related field, or Bachelor Degree
  • Qualifying experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • CPR and First Aid certification required within 90 days of employment
  • Complete 18 Bright From the Start approved training hours annually
  • Maintain state required transportation safety training if assigned to transportation duties

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Intermediate understanding of current child development principles and appropriate developmental practice
  • Experience working with school age children
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and fingerprint check in accordance with licensing requirements
  • Intermediate understanding of computer technology and ability to learn new systems

Job Duties

  • Engage actively while interacting with and supervising groups of children indoors and outdoors
  • Plan, schedule and implement curriculum in coordination with the Program Director including setting up interest centers and gross motor equipment
  • Maintain daily attendance reports, assigned records and other routine clerical tasks including supply and material ordering
  • Coordinate the transition of supervision between school day and parent pickup including signing in and out and maintaining transportation records if applicable
  • Ensure all state requirements are met for transportation duties including proper supervision and accurate bus logs
  • Greet and integrate participants into the program and assist with signing in and out
  • Perform general housekeeping tasks including sanitizing and disinfecting program areas and supplies
  • Distribute snacks and meals according to regulations and maintain accurate meal counts
  • Uphold YMCA standards of professionalism in conduct, dress and verbal communication
  • Communicate with legal caregivers/guardians regarding developmental or behavioral challenges
  • Implement Quality Rated practices and hold staff accountable for meeting teacher to participant ratios
  • Participate in program feedback initiatives and family engagement events
  • Receive and act on feedback from supervisors and audits to improve program quality
  • Maintain accurate files for staff and participants including immunization records
  • Report suspicions of child abuse or neglect as a Mandated Reporter and provide documentation
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service training programs
  • Provide staff development and participate in hiring when requested by leadership
  • Ensure program policies and procedures are followed by self, staff and volunteers
  • Maintain state and YMCA required training hours annually
  • Assist in member retention through appropriate customer service
  • Support the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA
  • Perform other duties as assigned
