Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, student personnel, business administration, or related field
  • minimum of two years of directly related work experience
  • preferred master's degree in education, business or related field
  • experience in financial aid program administration
  • knowledge of public higher education regulations and policies
  • knowledge of federal, institutional, and private financial aid programs
  • ability to manage budgets and work on project teams
  • capability to develop procedures, standards, and guidelines
  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • ability to establish and maintain effective relationships
  • proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Access, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • ability to travel across the state

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, student personnel, business administration, or related field
  • master's degree in education, business, or related field preferred
  • minimum of two years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
  • experience in financial aid program administration strongly preferred
  • knowledge of functions, regulations, and policies affecting public higher education
  • knowledge of federal, institutional, and private financial aid programs
  • ability to manage budgets
  • skill in developing procedures and guidelines
  • strong written and oral communication skills
  • ability to maintain effective working relationships
  • proficiency with financial aid software and related desktop applications
  • ability to travel statewide

Job Duties

  • Identify major program issues and resolutions
  • award, disburse, and monitor scholarship funds
  • coordinate distribution of program information and legislative changes
  • process and notify WV Invests Grant awards and denials
  • evaluate student eligibility for financial aid awards
  • review, evaluate, and respond to grant appeals and deferments
  • update student status in the FAMS system
  • send financial aid notifications
  • manage disbursement of funds
  • assist in resolving students' award issues
  • update and edit application forms and requirements
  • track student compliance (drug screens, community service, residency requirements)
  • draft written guidance and reports
  • develop and maintain policy and procedures manual
  • prepare and interpret financial aid reports
  • respond to inquiries from students, parents, and counselors
  • assist with institutional audit
  • assist in policy formulation
  • conduct training and workshops for financial aid staff and community
  • assist in FAFSA completion
  • perform other duties as assigned
