Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of Hy-Vee Food Safety program
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Ability to follow written, verbal or diagrammatic instructions
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers
- Physical ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Visual ability to distinguish color and depth perception with or without correction
- Ability to perform balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Willingness to work in a cool, damp environment with possible exposure to noise, electrical shock, and cleaning solvents
- Team-oriented mindset and positive customer focus
- Adherence to company personal hygiene and dress standards
- Punctuality and reliable attendance.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of Hy-Vee Food Safety program
- Ability to follow written, verbal or diagrammatic instructions
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and sanitation
- Ability to operate wrapping system, label maker, box cutter, and phone
- Physical ability to exert varying levels of force and perform physical activities such as balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Positive attitude and professional demeanor
- Willingness to adhere to company policies and dress codes.
Job Duties
- Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions
- Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner whether in the bakery or elsewhere in the store
- Make an effort to learn and address customers by name whenever possible
- Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing items out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, and passing along suggestions
- Answer telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service including taking product orders
- Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- Take customer orders at the bakery counter
- Wrap, weigh, and label bakery products
- Apply merchandising labels to products
- Stock cases and rotate products with emphasis on presentation
- Serve as the final inspector of products before display
- Ensure signage is correct
- Practice proper sanitation procedures and maintain a clean work area
- Ensure availability of advertised items and report out-of-stock products
- Maintain adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines
- Adhere to company policies and store guidelines
- Report to work on schedule and on time
- Assist designer by decorating and writing on cakes in their absence
- Assist baker by pulling products from freezer and prepping bakery items
- Assist in other store areas and perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
