Job Requirements

  • must be at least 21 years old
  • willing to work evening and weekend hours
  • enrolled as a UA student taking a minimum of 6 credits per semester with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or be a newly enrolled student
  • current alcohol server's education course certificate (TAPS) and Alaska Food Worker card are required or must be obtained within first shift
  • able to lift or maneuver heavy objects
  • able to work with limited supervision and in cooperation with other employees
  • complete a background check
  • maintain highest standards of ethics and professionalism

Job Qualifications

  • enrolled as a University of Alaska student with a minimum of 6 credits per semester or newly enrolled
  • minimum GPA of 2.0
  • current alcohol server's education course certificate (TAPS) or ability to obtain on first shift
  • Alaska Food Worker card or ability to obtain on first shift
  • prior experience in customer service preferred
  • knowledge of state laws related to alcoholic beverage service
  • ability to communicate effectively and work well with diverse campus community members

Job Duties

  • serve drinks and interact with patrons to create a welcoming atmosphere
  • enforce state laws and university policies regarding alcoholic beverages
  • handle money responsibly including cash and tips
  • assist in planning and implementation of events and activities
  • maintain daily cleanliness and operation of the Pub
  • manage sound equipment and provide audio support for live events (for sound technicians)
  • handle difficult situations with diplomacy and professionalism
