Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • must demonstrate compassion towards the poor, needy, and homeless
  • must manifest Christian character traits of integrity, trustworthiness, and responsibility
  • must display respect, gentleness, and accountability when interfacing with Crisis guests
  • must be teachable and function as a team player willing to resolve conflicts appropriately
  • must use good judgment
  • must be punctual
  • must be able to follow verbal and written instructions
  • must engage in safe and healthy work practices
  • must take an active part in ensuring safety, health and well-being of all staff, volunteers, and guests
  • J03 license required within 90 days of hire

Job Duties

  • Read staff log and guest files when coming on shift
  • serve as a receptionist by answering the phone and door
  • monitor meal, snacks and cleanup of Crisis guests
  • oversee the registering and checking in of guests on your shift
  • provide guests with emergency clothing and inform Case Manager of other clothing needs
  • assess the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of Crisis guests
  • intervene or refer when appropriate
  • document all activities and file appropriately
  • keep office clean and straightened
  • assist volunteers on your shift
  • counsel individuals not meeting program expectations
  • model Christlike behavior
  • monitor for inappropriate behaviors
  • enforce program principles compassionately
  • document corrective actions
  • conduct random bunk checks
  • ensure guests are in appropriate bunks after hours
  • document curfew violations
  • prevent accidents and violence
  • note hazards and report or correct
  • notify emergency personnel as needed
  • defuse or refer crisis calls
  • supervise guest intake and departure
  • attend weekly staff meetings
  • participate in internal and external training
  • attend First Aid, CPR, and Fire Safety training
  • monitor medicines needed by guests
  • oversee dinner and cleanup
  • perform related duties as assigned
