The Gladys Ray Shelter is a vital community resource dedicated to supporting unaccompanied homeless adults by providing a safe, welcoming, and low-barrier environment regardless of physical or emotional conditions. As a free emergency shelter, it aims to meet the immediate needs of homeless individuals who cannot access other shelter options within the community. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, counseling, or related field
- minimum three years of relevant experience
- valid driver's license
- ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
- supervisory skills
- commitment to confidentiality
- cultural competency
- proficiency with Microsoft Office
- ability to manage crisis and conflict
- willingness to undergo required training
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, counseling, or related field
- minimum three years of experience working with low income and homeless populations
- experience with chemical dependency and/or mental health programs
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- knowledge of social service laws and regulations
- ability to supervise personnel
- commitment to confidentiality and boundary maintenance
- cultural competency and respect for diversity
- proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Job Duties
- Provide information, referrals, and follow-up to guests
- develop and maintain relationships with community agencies
- coordinate on-site drop-in services
- work on homeless prevention programs
- manage crisis and conflict situations effectively
- maintain program data and HMIS records
- provide direction to Shelter Advocates and act as Team Lead when necessary
