Job Requirements

  • high school graduate or high school equivalent (hse) preferred
  • must possess a valid driver’s license
  • must possess and maintain a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (cdl)
  • required to submit to and pass a drug test as a condition of employment
  • must have the ability to move 50 pounds
  • must have the ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing, and walking for long periods of time
  • must have the ability to endure exposure to inclement weather
  • must have the ability to operate specialty traffic equipment (e.g., bucket trucks, paint equipment, etc.)
  • must have the ability to follow directions and work as part of a team
  • must have the ability to work unpredictable and non-traditional hours as necessary to perform winter operations activities
  • able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Qualifications

  • high school graduate or high school equivalent (hse) preferred
  • valid driver’s license
  • possession and maintenance of a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing, and walking for long periods

Job Duties

  • Operate basic highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain, repair, and clean highways and right-of-way
  • move and load supplies and materials
  • perform snow and ice removal during winter operations
  • execute emergency response activities such as clean-up, traffic control, lane closures, placement of signs, and erecting barricades
  • conduct equipment maintenance including minor repairs, preventative maintenance, refueling, and pre-trip inspections
  • comply with INDOT safety policies and procedures
  • perform miscellaneous labor tasks
  • complete job documentation tasks using the Work Management System (WMS)
