- ability to handle stressful situations
- effective communication skills
- knowledge of basic math

- experience in retail
- knowledge of wine and beer products
- willingness to pass wine test
- ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodation

Job Duties
- Promote trust and respect among associates
- create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering product questions
- gain and maintain product knowledge and respond to customer inquiries with suitable suggestions
- offer product samples consistent with company and legal guidelines
- inform customers of wine specials
- provide requested products efficiently
- recommend wine items to meet customer needs
- assist customers with pairing wine and other items like meat, cheese or desserts
- collaborate with the store chef for wine tastings and special programs
- stay current with present, future, seasonal and special advertisements
- maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs
- reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions
- practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs
- notify management of customer or employee accidents
- report safety risks, illegal activities such as robbery, theft or fraud
- perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
