Job Requirements
- Minimum age 18
- 3+ years of experience selling wine
- experience in ordering, inventory management, and shrink control
- ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
- ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach overhead and side to side throughout shift
- ability to frequently work in cooler environments
- ability to occasionally lift and carry 35 lbs
- ability to safely maneuver around moving mechanical parts
- willingness to work extended hours and varying work schedules
Job Qualifications
- Strong interest in or knowledge of wine
- leadership experience
- drive for financial results
- knowledge of wines of the world including science and process of winemaking, product rating systems, growing regions, varietals, flavor profiles, food pairings, and storage
- strong customer service skills
- strong merchandising and influencing skills
- strong organization and planning skills
- interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
- ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks
Job Duties
- Use independent judgement in making employment and business decisions
- train School of Retail Management and School of Retail Leadership trainees
- conduct competitive visits regularly
- prepare work schedules, order products, control inventory, and monitor department budget and payroll
- provide superior customer service and assist customers with wine-related questions
- maintain customer database for follow-ups and special offerings
- develop cross merchandising plans and educational programs
- coordinate wine tastings for special wines by variety, region, brand, or vintage
