  • Advanced Wine or Sommelier Certificate
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the wine and/or hospitality industry
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Master Sommelier or Master of Wine Diploma preferred
  • Prior teaching experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Organizational and detail-oriented skills
  • Excellent and welcoming presence in front of guests and employees
  • Moderate to strong presentation skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare daily lesson plans for classes and teach classes as requested and scheduled in accordance with institute philosophy and policies
  • Administer lectures and hands-on classes on campus, off campus or remotely consistent with professional standards
  • Work individually as an advisor for students needing extra help, course information, career guidance or academic assistance
  • Provide regular and constructive feedback to students and evaluate their performance using established methods and criteria
  • Submit course grades promptly within specified timeframes
  • Compile and present instructional materials in accord with college catalog descriptions, course syllabi, and class schedules
  • Maintain records of student attendance, progress, and grade distributions
  • Maintain discipline and order during instructional activities
  • Develop requisitions and orders for beverages and supplies while minimizing waste and expenses
  • Communicate effectively through appropriate channels
  • Enforce sanitation principles, attendance policies, professionalism, uniform, and hygiene policies
  • Assume responsibility for equipment and facilities used in the wine program
  • Support the mission and policies of the Institute and strategic direction of the Education Department
  • Assume responsibility for classroom equipment and facilities
  • Perform any other duties as assigned
