Job Requirements

  • Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation including night, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to push and pull approximately 100 lb of product on racks
  • Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs chest high
  • Conduct visual inspections and follow production guides, recipes and labels
  • Catch breads and operate kitchen equipment with manual dexterity
  • Maintain composure with customers and coworkers
  • Reach overhead to place products on racks
  • Stand, walk and move rapidly for extended periods
  • Bend, stoop, balance, crouch, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, perform repetitive movements and reach frequently
  • Handle bakery ingredients
  • Perform basic math including addition, subtraction, division and multiplication
  • Perform duties with mental alertness around baking hazards
  • Respond to audible timers on equipment
  • Work near equipment emitting heat of approximately 465 degrees
  • Follow safety and sanitation procedures and use cleaning chemicals
  • Perform duties with efficiency and manage time effectively
  • Wear personal protective equipment like hats, hairnets and gloves
  • Check labels and packaging of products
  • Communicate effectively in hearing, speech and writing
  • Work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Operate kitchen utensils and equipment with speed and accuracy
  • Demonstrate knowledge of product content, perishability, safety and sanitation policies and regulations
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Food Handlers Certification as required by state laws

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous bakery production or food service experience preferred
  • Knowledge of baking procedures, food safety, sanitation and labeling requirements
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Capability to operate bakery equipment such as ovens, mixers, proof boxes and sheeters
  • Ability to lift and handle heavy bakery ingredients and products
  • Experience with multi-tasking and managing time effectively
  • Ability to follow recipes and production guides accurately
  • Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative work approach
  • Certification or experience in food handling preferred
  • Basic math skills for measuring and production logging

Job Duties

  • Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
  • Maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with emphasis on taking care of the customer
  • Produce bakery products for retail stores
  • Operate and clean equipment and work area
  • Maintain clean, safe and sanitary bakery area and equipment
  • Package all fresh products following packaging and handling procedures
  • Ensure quality of goods by following code
  • Mix icing or other toppings by scaling and measuring ingredients, operating a mixer, reading recipes
  • Dump icing or other toppings into storage containers
  • Set up cakes by preparing liners and icing between layers
  • Ice cakes by combining and spreading icing, decorating
  • Package cakes by placing in boxes
  • Label bakery items using DiGi machine and placing labels
  • Display products on shelves appealingly using FIFO for rotation
  • Take orders from customers in person and by phone, including special orders
  • Personalize cakes with customer requested words
  • Face merchandise
  • Maintain atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with fast, friendly service
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
  • Display goods following packaging, handling, and signage procedures
  • Assist customers with inquiries regarding cakes and other bakery items
  • Ensure quality by following code dating and labeling regulations
  • Monitor stock levels and fill inventory and production sheets accurately
  • Produce breads and rolls by mixing recipes, setting up racks and machines, operating ovens and proof box
  • Clean work area using appropriate tools
  • Produce croissants by folding, proofing and baking
  • Open and close bakery according to procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed
