Job Requirements
- Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation including night, weekends and holidays
- pushing and pulling approximately 100 lb of product on racks
- lift objects up to 50 lbs
- conduct visual inspections and follow production guides and recipes
- catch breads and operate kitchen equipment with manual dexterity
- maintain composure when dealing with customers and co-workers
- reach overhead to place product on racks
- stand, walk and move rapidly for extended periods
- bend, stoop, balance, crouch, push, pull, lift, grasp, perform repetitive movements frequently
- handle bakery ingredients safely
- perform basic math calculations
- respond to audible timers on baking equipment
- follow safety and sanitation procedures
- wear hats, hairnets, gloves, and other personal protective equipment
- check labels and packaging
- communicate effectively with customers
- work collaboratively in a team with strong customer orientation
- demonstrate knowledge of product content and perishability
- be 18 years of age or older
- possess food handlers certification per state laws
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous bakery or food service experience preferred
- knowledge of bakery equipment and procedures
- ability to operate slicing, mixing, and baking equipment
- basic math skills for weighing and measuring ingredients
- excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- strong customer service and communication skills
- ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- ability to follow recipes and production guides
- physical stamina to stand, lift, push, and pull as required
- food handler certification as required by state laws
Job Duties
- Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
- maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service
- produce bakery products for retail stores
- operate and clean bakery equipment and work area
- package fresh products following all packaging and handling procedures
- ensure quality of goods by following code
- mix icing and other toppings by scaling and measuring ingredients
- set up and ice cakes including applying decorations
- package cakes in boxes
- label bakery items using scanning and labeling machines
- display products on shelves using FIFO rotation
- take orders by phone and in person
- personalize cakes with customer messages
- face merchandise
- engage in suggestive selling
- maintain product displays, cleanliness and appeal
- assist customers with inquiries and special orders
- follow code dating and labeling regulations
- keep manager informed of stock levels
- produce breads, rolls and croissants by mixing, proofing and baking
- clean work areas thoroughly
- open and close bakery according to procedures
- perform other duties as assigned
