Job Requirements
- one year specialized experience equivalent to GS-4
- or completion of a 4-year course of study in accredited college or university with major in fire science, fire training, fire technology or related field
- combination of education and experience
- possession of IQCS master record or equivalent training documentation
- successful completion of NWCG Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1)
- successful completion of NWCG Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior (S-290)
- passing the Work Capacity Test at the arduous level
- passing pre-employment drug testing
- ability to maintain physical fitness for wildland firefighting
- ability to work in hazardous, physically demanding conditions
Job Qualifications
- successful completion of a 4-year course of study in fire science, fire training, fire technology or related fields

- possession of Incident Qualification and Certification System master record or equivalent training documents
- successful completion of NWCG Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1)
- successful completion of NWCG Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior (S-290)
- ability to meet the Work Capacity Test at the arduous level
Job Duties
- perform wildland firefighting work
- operate fire engine and pump controls under supervision
- perform regular maintenance and minor repairs on fire engine
- serve on an organized wildland fire crew during prescribed burns
- monitor and control fire behavior
- collect data on fire weather and fire behavior
- respond rapidly to wildfire incidents
