Job Requirements
- Education transcripts must be submitted when qualifying based on education
- Foreign education must be evaluated by recognized credential agencies
- Must meet qualification requirements by announcement closing date
- Ability to work under irregular and extended hours
- Physical ability to perform lifting, walking, standing, and operating hand and power tools
- Willingness to work outdoors in extreme temperature and climatic conditions
- Compliance with safety equipment use including hearing and eye protection and high visibility clothing
Job Qualifications
- One year of specialized work experience equivalent to GW/GS-04 level duties for GW-05
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Fire Training, Fire Technology, or related field for GW-05
- One year of specialized work experience equivalent to GW/GS-05 level duties for GW-06
- Ability to work long hours in physically demanding environments
- Proficiency in operating radios and using computer software for data input
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to aircraft ramp operations
- Capability to compile and summarize data and reports
Job Duties
- Ensure ramp operations conform to safety standards including parking, loading, and movement of aircraft
- Operate two-way radios to communicate with ramp personnel, aircraft, and dispatch centers
- Compile data and prepare daily summaries and annual reports
- Perform general clerical and administrative duties
- Assist with base setup, teardown, and maintenance including lifting and operating tools
- Monitor hazardous conditions and maintain situational awareness around moving aircraft and equipment
- Support wildfire response activities with physical labor and coordination
