Job Requirements

- specialized experience must include specific duties performed
- meet qualification requirements by announcement closing date
- provide transcripts if qualifying based on education
- foreign education credentials must be evaluated for equivalency
- physical ability to work long irregular hours
- willingness to work outdoors in high temperatures and around moving aircraft
- use and compliance with safety equipment including hearing and eye protection
- ability to lift and carry heavy equipment
- hold NWCG position certification
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent
- one year of specialized work experience equivalent to GW/GS-04 level for GW-05
- one year of specialized work experience equivalent to GW/GS-05 level for GW-06
- completion of a four-year degree in fire science, fire technology, or related field is preferred
- ability to operate communication equipment
- proficiency in data entry and computer software
- understanding of safety protocols in a high-risk environment
- capacity to work irregular hours and in physically demanding conditions
Job Duties
- manage ramp operations to ensure safety of aircraft and personnel
- operate two-way radios for communication with aircraft and dispatch centers
- compile data for daily reports and yearly summaries
- perform clerical and administrative duties related to airtanker base operations
- set up, maintain, and tear down base equipment and facilities
- lift and carry heavy materials and operate hand and power tools
- monitor safety conditions around moving aircraft and equipment
