Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working with youth or diverse populations preferred
- Ability to pass background and reference checks in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion
- Able and willing to complete Child Abuse Prevention training on first day
- Able to work part-time up to 25 hours per week
- Reliable transportation to Tom Taylor Family YMCA in Gig Harbor, WA
Job Qualifications
- YMCA foundations of strength and conditioning certification or equivalent such as ACE, ACSM, or AFAA certifications preferred
- Knowledge of basic health and fitness principles and components
- Experience with exercise prescription and strength training machines preferred
- Positive attitude and ability to engage with youth and diverse populations
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications preferred
- Ability to complete online and in-person training as required
Job Duties
- Greet and interact with members as they enter and exit the fitness center
- Deliver youth equipment orientations and assist members with spotting or form during workouts
- Ensure the fitness area remains clean and organized including dumbbells, weight plates, bars, and monitor equipment functionality
- Promote and embody YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all member interactions
- Support and maintain a safe workout environment for all members and participants
- Participate in required training including safety and child abuse prevention sessions
- Assist in fostering an inclusive environment that values diversity and promotes member engagement
