Job Requirements

  • Must be able to pass background and reference checks in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act
  • able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day and other online and in-person training as required
  • part-time availability up to 25 hours per week
  • evening and weekend availability required
  • commitment to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment

Job Qualifications

  • YMCA Foundations of Strength and Conditioning and/or Foundations of Group Exercise certification or equivalent such as ACE, ACSM, or AFAA certifications preferred
  • knowledge of basic health and fitness principles and components
  • exercise prescription and strength training machines preferred
  • positive attitude
  • experience with youth and diverse populations
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications preferred

Job Duties

  • Greet and interact with members as they enter and exit the fitness center
  • deliver youth equipment orientations
  • assist members with spotting or form during their workouts
  • ensure the fitness area remains clean and organized
  • maintain dumbbells, weight plates, bars, and ensure equipment is working
  • foster a safe and welcoming environment
  • support the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
