Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience as a veterinary receptionist in emergency or specialty setting preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and handle a high volume of calls
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with veterinary software
- Ability to work weekend shifts from Friday to Sunday 7am to 3pm
- Professional and calm demeanor during emergency situations
Job Qualifications
- Prior experience as a receptionist in veterinary emergency or specialty practice or high-volume veterinary hospital
- Experience handling client concerns in stressful situations including emergency cases
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology and procedures or ability to quickly learn
- Strong customer service skills with empathy and professionalism
- Ability to manage high call volumes and multitask efficiently
- Excellent verbal and written communication with focus on active listening
- Basic computer proficiency and experience with veterinary practice management software such as Avimark, Cornerstone, or IDEXX
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain professional and calm demeanor in high-pressure situations
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Veterinary receptionist certification or similar training is a plus
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
Job Duties
- Greet clients and answer calls providing a friendly first impression
- Gather accurate information about patient condition and history for the care team
- Act as liaison between clients and veterinary team ensuring clear communication and empathy
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments for emergency and specialty visits
- Enter patient information and updates accurately into the electronic medical record system
- Process intake, consent, and financial forms for emergency and specialty services
- Provide clients with accurate pricing and payment information and process financial transactions
- Collaborate closely with veterinarians and support staff to ensure smooth clinic operations
- Maintain calm and organized demeanor during emergencies and assist with triage and timely client check-ins
