Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in cooking or food preparation
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safety regulations
  • Ability to work efficiently and follow detailed instructions
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
  • Positive attitude and reliability

Job Qualifications

  • Previous cooking experience in a similar foodservice or care facility environment
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to follow dietary plans and adjust meals accordingly
  • Proficiency in inventory management and ordering
  • Good communication skills to coordinate with Foodservice Director and care staff
  • Attention to detail in monitoring portion sizes and hygiene
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills for record keeping

Job Duties

  • Ensure food, food preparation, equipment, and storage areas are maintained in accordance with the sanitation requirements
  • Review residents' diet information and care plans and discuss with Foodservice Director as necessary to make appropriate changes
  • Monitor portion control guidelines for individual residents
  • Maintain sufficient inventory as specified by state licensure bureau, and purchase food items within budgeting parameters
  • Stock and store food items as specified by state licensure bureau
  • Retrieve dishes and utensils following meals and ensure all dishes and utensils are washed and properly sanitized
  • Complete weekly grocery inventory and shopping lists
  • Complete substitution log if applicable
  • Post weekly menus
