Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift 35 lbs. repetitively
- 1 year of relevant experience required
- Available to work Saturday and Sunday from 6am to 2:30pm
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety guidelines
- Capable of standing, walking, and performing physical cleaning duties for extended periods
- Willingness to attend training sessions
- Ability to interact politely with university staff and visitors
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of janitorial or cleaning experience
- Ability to operate various cleaning equipment safely
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks and lift up to 35 pounds
- Reliability and punctuality
Job Duties
- Restocking bathrooms and putting away supplies
- General cleaning including pulling trash, dusting, cleaning restrooms, vacuuming
- Cleaning offices, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and/or refinishing floors
- Cleaning rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, draperies, water fountains
- Washing walls, ceilings, vents, woodwork, windows, blinds, door panels, ledges and sills
- Dusting furniture and equipment
- Assisting in workload completion in absence of other employees
- Project cleaning including moving furniture, refinishing floors, shampooing carpets, cleaning blinds and light fixtures, washing walls, windows, doors, and furniture
- Operating wet vacuums, hand trucks, vacuum cleaners, carpet extractors, floor buffers, automatic scrubbers
- Emptying wastebaskets and ashtrays
- Transporting trash and waste to disposal area
- Setting up tables and chairs in auditoriums or conference rooms
- Replenishing paper and soap products in bathrooms, cleaning mirrors, walls, showers, sinks, metal work and toilets
- Replacing light bulbs
- Reporting malfunctions and maintenance problems to supervisor
- Assisting with outside cleaning tasks such as sweeping sidewalks and picking up trash
- Locking and unlocking doors at appropriate times
- Attending training meetings and sessions as directed
- Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor
