Job Requirements
- Able to lift, carry, push, pull and move items up to 70 pounds regularly
- Capable of frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling and stooping
- Alert to moving vehicles and able to use radio communication equipment
- Ability to work amidst machinery noise
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with crew and ground personnel
- Basic math skills to calculate piece count, weight and dimensions
- Computer skills to track cargo using company systems
- Problem-solving and time management skills to efficiently complete tasks
- Willingness to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
- Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Authorization to work in the United States or Canada as applicable
- Completed ramp and SIDA training for airport authority identification
- Ability to secure Customs Seal if required by role
- Preferred one or more years of relevant experience
Job Duties
- Facilitate the loading and unloading of cargo to and from trucks
- Check freight for proper piece count, weight, dimensions and documents as appropriate when accepting or delivering cargo
- Issue appropriate warehouse receipt or collect signed copy of delivery receipt
- Ensure that cargo has a proper release issued by office personnel before delivery
- Operate basic cargo handling equipment such as forklift, aircraft pallets and pallet jacks
- Break down cargo from import flights, sort, check freight against manifest and store properly
- Build up cargo for export flights following supervisor instructions
- Keep inventory of freight, warehouse supplies, airline equipment and containers
- Maintain security of cargo and company equipment reporting incidents
- Maintain work area cleanliness and report damaged equipment
- Complete paperwork and enter data into company information system
- Follow company procedures to ensure safe and responsible operations
- Complete required training
- Be willing to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
