Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • 2 years previous food & beverage and supervisory experience
  • Ability to work entire shift standing and moving about in restaurants and kitchen areas
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, employing patience, tact and diplomacy
  • Position requires 2 years food service supervisory experience
  • Ability to commute to Coralville, IA 52241
  • Ability to relocate to Coralville, IA 52241
  • Knowledge of beverage operations and wine varieties preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and POS systems preferred
  • Additional language ability preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of food & beverage operations and preparation techniques
  • Knowledge of beverage operations and understanding wine varieties, labels and vintages
  • Mathematical abilities to determine and track inventory, controls, revenue production, and other financial statements
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • Experience with POS systems and Microsoft Office suite preferred

Job Duties

  • Perform all dining room positions including server, server assistant, host and bartender
  • Open and close restaurant and bar
  • Supervise staff in absence of Restaurant / Outlets Manager
  • Assist with on-going training to ensure standards are being met
  • Oversee operation of Room Service and assist other Food and Beverage areas as needed
  • Interact positively with customers promoting hotel facilities and services
  • Resolve problems to the satisfaction of involved parties
  • Move throughout facility and kitchen areas to visually monitor and take action to ensure food quality and service standards are met
  • Verify temperature, judge appearance and taste of products and check preparation methods to determine quality
  • Give guidance toward improvement and make necessary adjustments for consistency
  • Maintain profitability of outlet to support hotel operations
  • Control payroll and equipment costs
  • Ensure par stock levels are maintained by calculating inventory, ordering, and retrieving supplies
  • Utilize POS system to accurately charge customers, and ensure timeliness of food and beverage
  • Implement and maintain housekeeping, sanitation and cleanliness standards in all areas of the hotel
  • Maintain a high level of professional appearance, demeanor, ethics and self-image with yourself as well as subordinates
  • Administer sales promotion programs and employee sales incentive programs
  • Know the competition and keep current with industry trends
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of all assigned associates and departmental responsibilities in the restaurant
  • Support hotel policies and procedures
  • Maintain house bank
  • Ensure appropriate standards of conduct, dress, hygiene, and appearance are maintained
  • Be knowledgeable and participate in the hotel's Fire, Safety, Security, and Environmental plan and/or committees
  • Attend all required F&B Department and other meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned
