Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 21 years of age
- Experience working with youth 6-17 years old
- Experience working in a summer camp setting or similar
- Experience supervising staff
- Experience lifeguarding and boating on lakefronts and/or tidal, saltwater based waterfronts
- Comfortable working in a camp setting with variable work hours including on-call, overnight, and weekend duties
- Ability to pass swimming skills assessment including 550 yards swim, 2 minutes tread water, surface dive to 10 feet and retrieve 10-pound object, swim 5 yards submerged retrieving dive rings
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to walk over uneven terrain and lift up to 35lbs
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
- Willingness to obtain necessary certifications if not already held
- Satisfactory criminal background check
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 21 years old
- Experience working with youth aged 6-17
- Experience working in a summer camp setting or similar
- Experience supervising staff
- Experience lifeguarding and boating on lakefront or tidal/saltwater waterfronts
- Knowledge of the Girl Scout program preferred
- Experience managing waterfront programs preferred
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record with willingness to transport campers and staff
- Current or willingness to obtain American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguarding certification
- Current or willingness to obtain certification for instructing youth in canoes, kayaks, rowboats, sailboats, or paddleboards
- Current or willingness to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguard Management certification
- Current or willingness to obtain Youth Mental Health First Aid certification
- Satisfactory criminal background check
Job Duties
- Oversee the day-to-day planning and delivery of water-based programming based on camp goals, outcomes, and marketed activities
- Coordinate weekly scheduling, observation, and evaluation of boating specialists and lifeguards, providing feedback through scheduled one-on-one meetings
- Oversee waterfront equipment management including pre- and post-season inventories, daily safety inspections, and submitting requests for repairs or replacement equipment as needed
- Develop and oversee the implementation of weekly waterfront schedules in coordination with department directors
- Assist in the training of summer camp staff in appropriate roles for waterfront support, program safety, and policy understanding including regular skill assessments and weekly in-service trainings
- Assist in managing overall camp operation at the direction of the Camp Director
- Support and participate in camp activities such as meals, games, and campfires
- Perform general camp operations duties including check-in and check-out, bus supervision, camp cleaning, season opening and closing tasks, and paperwork completion
