Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Valid California Class C License and clean, insurable driving record for backup driving roles
- Previous experience in warehouse or driving 14 to 20 ft commercial trucks
- Ability to operate manual or electric pallet jacks
- Comfortable with GPS and routing systems
- Ability to comply with Mercy Brown Bag Program regulations
- Mechanical ability for truck maintenance and vehicle checks
- Basic English communication skills
- Ability to communicate professionally with donors and staff
- Basic math skills
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Must pass cleared criminal record check
- Health screening and current TB test results
- Current or soon to be completed First Aid certification
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, climb, step in and out of vehicles
- Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous warehouse or driver experience preferred
- Valid California Class C Driver’s License
- Experience operating manual or electric pallet jacks
- Ability to use GPS and routing systems
- Strong communication skills in English including reading, writing, and speaking
- Basic arithmetic skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Current First Aid Training or willingness to obtain within six months of hire
- Ability to pass cleared criminal record check
- Ability to perform pre and post trip vehicle inspections
- Customer service skills
Job Duties
- Oversee warehouse operations supporting the Common Spirit grocery store onsite
- Stock store daily ensuring products meet USDA good food guidelines
- Keep store stocked during open hours from 10 AM to 2 PM Monday through Friday
- Assist in store operations as needed
- Pack produce at Chapman warehouse and coordinate distribution with Field Operations Manager
- Check and maintain accurate logs including daily refrigerator and freezer temperatures
- Clean warehouse and delivery trucks and update cleaning schedule
- Drive Mercy Brown Bag program vehicles including Class B and C trucks to pick up donations or deliver food
- Assist drivers and Community Coordinators including filling in as needed
- Prepare documentation supporting inventory efforts including food bank receipts and delivery slips
- Maintain safety and cleanliness standards per Alameda County AAA, ACCFB, FEMA, USDA, OSHA and MRCC
- Attend in-service education programs, staff events, and trainings
- Report safety issues, delays, and recipient concerns to supervisor
- Verify cargo amounts and complete bills of lading and donor receipts
- Inspect product donations and reject those below quality standards
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards
- Maintain respectful relations with donors and agencies
- Protect Food Bank assets and report damages promptly
- Report accidents immediately and complete accident report forms
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Perform other duties as assigned
