Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to multitask
- Skills in effective communication with co-workers, doctors/providers, and patients
- Ability to communicate effectively on telephone
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to perform physical work for 12 hours including walking, bending, lifting up to 30 pounds, reaching, stooping, assisting patients, and sitting
- Ability to work on a computer screen for 12 hours
- Skill in role modeling appropriate behavior
- Ability to react calmly and competently in stressful situations
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with patients, doctors/providers, co-workers, and vendors
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize assignments
- Customer service skills including service recovery and de-escalation
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
- Licensed LPN preferred
- Experience in clinical nursing support preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, providers, and coworkers
- Skilled in using Microsoft Office and EHR systems
- Ability to multitask and manage stressful situations
- Competent in patient advocacy and customer service
- Basic Life Support certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days
- Knowledge of CDC vaccination guidelines and OSHA standards
Job Duties
- Obtain vital signs including manual blood pressures for patients
- Collect specimens, perform testing, and deliver specimens to the laboratory
- Set up and assist in exam rooms and procedure rooms
- Administer vaccinations adhering to CDC vaccination guidelines
- Utilize EHR to document and manage patient charts
- Reconcile patient medication lists at each visit
- Schedule procedures and educate patients on preparation
- Notify patients of test results using telephone, patient portal, or mail
- Document all communications with patients in the EHR
- Administer and document medication injections, oral and topical medications
- Maintain and disperse sample medications as per clinic standards
- Act as a liaison between patient and provider and other healthcare agencies
- Advocate for patients as needed
- Manage prescription refills following department policy
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Follow CDC guidelines for preventative care and quality measures
- Meet departmental quality goals annually
- Use all computer systems/applications including EHR, practice management, Microsoft Office, phone systems, and other tools
- Obtain AHA Basic Life Saver Certification within 90 days
- Adhere to OSHA guidelines, MMC policies and procedures
- Perform additional duties as assigned
