Job Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate with, be interested in, and have compassion for the elderly
  • must possess good communication skills, both verbal and written in English
  • must be able to read menus and interpret to residents
  • should have good organizational skills to meet deadlines and goals
  • needs ability to work in a team environment both in dietary and overall healthcare team
  • ability to maintain professional composure under stressful conditions
  • able to clear fingerprints through DOJ and FBI
  • able to clear drug screen

Job Qualifications

  • Completion of a high school or GED equivalency
  • ability to read, write, understand and speak English
  • one year of food service experience as a waitperson, preferably in senior living, health center or institutional food service
  • good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • good organizational skills
  • ability to work in team environment
  • ability to maintain professional composure under stress

Job Duties

  • Set up tables in dining room
  • clean tables and chairs after every meal
  • ensure cleanliness of dining room carpet
  • serve meals to residents and assigned stations
  • prepare and serve required daily beverage
  • maintain work area and equipment in clean and sanitary manner
  • disassemble and clean all equipment after each meal
  • portion desserts, salads, soup and cereals for residents
  • record meal tally on cook's production sheet
  • serve food in adherence to dietary department portion controls
  • maintain employees lounge in clean and orderly manner
  • cover and label all remaining foods with date within appropriate time frame
  • ensure foods and refrigeration units are maintained at proper temperature levels and record information
  • record meal count from each meal served
  • perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor or Administrator
