Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous food service experience preferred
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Availability to work part-time shifts including evenings and weekends as required
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Reliable transportation to and from the Notre Dame location
  • Ability to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Duties

  • Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room
  • Take food and beverage orders efficiently following established steps of service
  • Deliver food promptly and professionally while maintaining safe food handling standards
  • Follow up periodically to assist with any additional guest needs or requests
  • Demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients
  • Advise guests on food and drink combinations and accommodate dietary requests
  • Communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure order accuracy and special requests
  • Exhibit exceptional communication skills and remain flexible and patient with guests and staff
  • Collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures
  • Promote a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding personal or medical information
  • Address complaints promptly and relay information to supervisors
  • Ensure dining room setup before and after service periods
  • Operate equipment such as fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines
  • Collaborate with other departments during special events and functions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
