Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
previous experience in customer service or hospitality
physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods
ability to work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week including weekends and holidays
proficiency in English for communication
willingness to comply with food handling and safety regulations
ability to operate dining service equipment
ability to handle cash and follow cash-handling procedures
availability to work at United Airlines Chicago Polaris location

Job Qualifications

Previous customer service experience
previous fine dining experience preferred
experience in airport lounge service preferred
ability to communicate effectively in a professional setting
knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
strong interpersonal skills
ability to handle cash and payment transactions accurately
flexibility to work scheduled shifts including weekends and holidays
sensitivity to guest needs and confidentiality
basic knowledge of specialized diets and allergens

Job Duties

Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room
take food and beverages in an efficient manner following established steps of service
deliver food promptly and professionally while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards
follow up periodically to assist with any additional needs or requests
demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients
advise guests on appropriate combinations of food and drinks
accommodate reasonable requests and note preferences
demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets and allergens as needed
communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure orders are delivered correctly and special requests accommodated
exhibit exceptional communication skills and ability to get along well with others
remain flexible and patient when communicating with guests and staff
collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures
promote a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests
maintain a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information
promptly address complaints or issues and relay relevant information to supervisor
ensure the dining room is properly set up prior to and after service periods
operate a variety of equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines
work with staff of other departments during special events and functions
perform other duties as assigned
