Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
prior experience in catering or foodservice preferred
ability to work on call with variable hours
knowledge of safe food handling practices
effective communication skills
ability to operate dining room equipment
ability to maintain confidentiality
physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform assigned duties
ability to handle cash properly

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
prior catering or foodservice experience preferred
knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
excellent communication and interpersonal skills
ability to work flexibly in an on-call capacity
understanding of menu items and dietary restrictions
capability to handle cash transactions

Job Duties

Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room
takes food and beverages in an efficient manner following established steps of service
delivers food promptly and professionally
maintains safe food handling and sanitation standards
follows up periodically to assist with additional needs or requests
demonstrates complete understanding of menu items and ingredients
advises guests on appropriate food and drink combinations when requested
accommodates reasonable requests and notes preferences
demonstrates knowledge of specialized diets and allergens as needed
communicates directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure orders are delivered correctly and special requests accommodated
exhibits exceptional communication skills and ability to get along with others
remains flexible and patient when communicating with guests and staff
collects tickets and follows proper cash-handling procedures
promotes a clean, safe and neat environment for guests
maintains sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information shared
promptly addresses complaints or issues and relays relevant information to supervisor
ensures dining room is properly set up prior to and after service period
keeps area clean and neat while meeting sanitation standards
operates various equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells and coffee machines
works with staff from other departments during special events and functions
performs other duties as assigned
