Job Requirements

  • Previous waiter/waitress experience preferred but not required
  • ability to work full-time or part-time with flexible schedules including some nights, weekends, and holidays
  • reliable transportation to and from the First Community Village location
  • ability to perform essential job functions satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation
  • must maintain a drug-free workplace
  • willingness to submit to background checks as required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous waiter/waitress or customer service experience preferred but not required
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation
  • ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • team player with a positive attitude
  • basic math skills for cash handling
  • ability to maintain confidentiality

Job Duties

  • Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room
  • take food and beverage orders efficiently, following established steps of service
  • deliver food promptly and professionally while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards
  • follow up periodically to assist with additional guest needs or requests
  • demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients, advise guests on appropriate food and drink combinations, accommodate reasonable requests and note preferences, including specialized diets and allergens
  • communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure correct order delivery and special requests are accommodated
  • exhibit exceptional communication skills and ability to get along well with others, remain flexible and patient when interacting with guests and staff
  • collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures
  • promote a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests
  • maintain sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information
  • promptly address complaints or issues and relay relevant information to the supervisor
  • ensure the dining room is properly set up prior to and after service periods and meets sanitation standards
  • operate various equipment including fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines
  • work with staff from other departments during special events and functions
  • perform other duties as assigned
