Job Requirements

  • Minimum age 18
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of company orientation
  • Completion of food safety and sanitation training
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Ability to perform detailed and precise tasks
  • Ability to work with customers attentively
  • Capability to safely lift up to 55 pounds or more depending on department
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and perform fine motor movements
  • Willingness to comply with all safety and food sanitation standards
  • Commitment to teamwork and quality customer service.

  • Knowledge of computer systems and equipment such as PC, symbol, scales, label machine

Job Duties

  • Provides superior customer service
  • Takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
  • Answers customer questions regarding products
  • Assists them with selections
  • Prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
  • Slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
  • Assists in technical areas as needed such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
  • Uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
  • Cleans and sanitizes display cases
  • Operates and maintains equipment properly
  • Complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
  • Complies with department and store operating procedures
  • Performs department-specific tasks such as recording production and shrink in bakery, taking care of service counter customers in deli, or serving and packaging products at customer's request in prepared foods.
