Job Duties
- Provide superior customer service
- take orders from customers by telephone or in person
- answer customer questions regarding products
- assist customers with selections
- prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product effectively
- slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products for poor quality
- assist in technical areas such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
- use suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- clean and sanitize display cases
- operate and maintain equipment properly
- comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- comply with department and store operating procedures
- record production and shrink in Bakery
- assist in technical baking, frying, and decorating in Bakery
- cull bakery products for poor quality and expiration dates
- take care of service counter customers in Deli
- use ordering system applications in Deli
- use Fresh Production Planner in Deli
- perform inventory management processes in Deli
- ensure catering orders are prepared and ready for customer pickup in Deli
- perform sanitation and maintenance tasks for Deli slicers
- serve and package products at customer request in Prepared Foods
- educate customers on preparation and reheating instructions of prepared foods
- prepackage condiments for prepared food items
- cut, slice, dice, and chop food in preparation for chefs
