Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree in a related field
  • minimum of 10 years of compliance experience in a national insurance company
  • ability to lead and develop teams within a matrixed environment
  • strong understanding of commercial insurance laws and regulations
  • experience with compliance program development and execution
  • excellent communication skills for regulatory engagement
  • availability to work three days per week in office and ability to travel as needed
  • reliable internet connection and home office setup for remote work days
  • physical ability to perform desk-based work and virtual communication

Job Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in a compliance role at a national insurance company
  • experience leading, managing, and developing teams in a matrixed organization
  • expertise in building compliance policies, procedures, training, risk assessments, and periodic plans
  • experienced in planning, executing, and reporting on compliance reviews
  • deep knowledge of commercial insurance laws including product design, underwriting, marketing, agency regulation, licensing, privacy, cybersecurity, AI, anti-discrimination, claims handling, OFAC, and AML
  • experience interfacing with regulators during financial and market conduct examinations
  • thorough understanding of industry standards and compliance practices

Job Duties

  • assist with operationalizing a modern compliance department focusing on commercial insurance across multiple lines of business
  • develop written policies and procedures to ensure business compliance with insurance laws and regulations in partnership with business unit leaders
  • collaborate with control functions and business units to create and monitor controls preventing, detecting, and resolving compliance breaches
  • engage with business unit leaders to guarantee regulatory compliance across underwriting, claims, distribution, product, premium audit, and customer service
  • monitor, review, research, and implement applicable state regulatory changes
  • respond to regulatory inquiries, investigations, and market conduct issues in coordination with legal and compliance departments
  • design and implement compliance training programs for employees
